Frequently Asked Questions

01 Is there a mileage fee?

For weddings, there is a $2/mile fee if the venue is beyond 60 miles.

For all other sessions, a $2/mile fee is applied beyond 30 miles.

02 What kind of gear do you use?

I shoot with two Nikon Z5 mirrorless cameras. One with a 35mm lens, the other with an 85mm lens. Both have dual card slots, so if one SD card corrupts by some wild chance, your images are not lost since they are backed up to the second SD card. I also utilize a Nikon SB700 on camera flash from time to time.

03 How many photos will I receive?

You can expect between 50-100 photos per hour shot for weddings, and between 25-50 per hour for regular sessions.

04 Can I get unedited photos?

It is a photography standard not to give out RAW images. Only on very rare occasion would I consider giving out RAW images to a client.

05 What is a RAW image?

A camera can mainly shoot in two image formats, RAW and JPEG. When a camera shoots in JPEG it does some of the editing for you, and therefore loses image quality and takes away some editing freedom. A RAW image is fully unedited by the camera, it is a larger size, and maintains the details captured at that moment. A RAW image is a much larger file, and requires additional processing to be a useable image. (Trust me, you don't want hundreds of RAW images taking up the space on your computer!)

06 How much do I pay to secure my session or wedding?

A 25% retainer is required for both weddings and regular sessions. The remaining 75% is due by the date of booking.

07 What happens if you get sick or something happens to you before our wedding?

When it comes to weddings, I typically have a network of other photographers for you to contact and set up coverage with. If the photographer within network is available and you go with them, but they have slightly higher costs, I will cover the difference for you within a $250 limit. If you choose a photographer outside of my network, I am not liable to cover any cost difference and can only refund the 75% payment that was made after the 25% deposit

08 What happens if the weather is bad?

Well, it depends! If the weather is dangerous (flash floods, tornado, blizzard, temps below 0, etc) the session will be rescheduled. If it's a light rain or pretty snow, we can continue on with the session. If you prefer not to have your photos done in the rain or snow, we can certainly reschedule.

10 How long will it take to get my photos back?

Regular sessions are a 2-4 week wait for finished photos. Weddings are 6-8 week wait time.

11 Do you offer any discounts?

Yes! Active military and veterans receive 20%, returning clients get 10%, and with the referral system you can receive 15% off.
