MN State Capitol Engagement Session in St. Paul

I can honestly say this is one of my favorite engagement sessions to date! Tayah sent over some inspiration photos for her engagement session and was wanting a spot with tall marble pillars, beautiful architecture, and an overall refined look. I put together a list with some spots including the MN State Capitol, the Minneapolis Institute of Art, and Minneapolis City Hall. But I think we both fell in love with the Capitol.
Of all the engagement session galleries I've delivered, this will easily be the biggest. I have a hard time culling out the good ones and tend to send all the good photos to my clients so long as they aren't terribly repetitive or identical. And with a gorgeous setting like this...EVERY photo is a stunner. Not to mention, these to were sooo natural in front of the camera, and their chemistry was out of this world.

The Capitol closes at 3pm on Saturdays, so we got there at 2pm to kickoff our session. We started with some photos outside in front of the Capitol then made our way inside to check out all the gorgeous spots for photos. This place is art from floor to ceiling, and the backdrop options are endless!

There are no permits or reservations needed to take photos here, but I do recommend checking online to see if there are any scheduled events or gatherings. Admission is free, with tours available and a donation recommended. Oh, and another perk? There is ample parking! So if you're like me and the thought of parallel parking makes you sweat...no worries! There's a parking ramp adjacent to the Capitol as well as countless parking lots surrounding the building.

Finally we made our way outside for a few final photos before wrapping up at the Capitol and heading to our second location, Willow River State Park in Hudson, Wisconsin.

So if you're still looking for the perfect backdrop, consider a MN State Capitol engagement session.
